Samina Qureshi, MD – President

Dr. Samina Qureshi is an International Medical Officer with the MSSO. She has experience in managing, directing and serving as subject matter expert in critical pharmacovigilance projects for federal and commercial entities. Her expertise in health sciences and Pharmacovigilance includes FDA drug safety protocols and terminologies such as Medical Dictionary for Regulatory Activities (MedDRA), and World Health Organization Drug Dictionary (WHO-DD). She is a published author in numerous journals and invited presenter at international conferences.

Dr. Qureshi has over fifteen years of experience and has served in the Vice President role in her previous position where she managed numerous federal projects at CDER, CBER and NIH.

She has been actively involved as one of the founding members of the Maryland APPNA chapter, serving on the Executive Committee in various roles. She has also been active in her Rawalpindi Medical College Alumni and has served in various roles such as Counselor, General Secretary and Alumni President (2020).

Dr. Qureshi received her medical degree from Rawalpindi Medical College with honors in Pharmacology and Forensic Medicine and her MSc in Regulatory Science from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD

Lalarukh Malik, MD – Secretary

Dr. Lalarukh R. Malik is a graduate of King Edward Medical College, Lahore Pakistan and completed her residency training at MCFM, University of North Dakota Health and Medical Sciences.

She also trained in hospital medicine in Columbus, Ohio and worked as a Hospitalist in several hospitals in multiple states. Dr. Lalarukh is board certified in Family Medicine and also holds several certifications in aesthetic medical procedures.

Currently, she is the owner and director of a premier medical practice, Ultima Medical & Aesthetics in Germantown, Montgomery County Maryland.

Dr. Lalarukh is passionate about the special mix of medicine and medical aesthetics as a wholesome and whole person medical approach.

Dr. Lalarukh has been involved in Maryland chapter creation to promote and encourage Maryland physicians involvement in community and State healthcare projects under central APPNA platform.

Dr. Sheikh Shehzad Parviz, MBBS, CMD, CTH, FACP -Treasurer

Dr. Parviz is the medical director of Brooke Grove Retirement Village, Sandy Spring, MD, and has been working there in partnership with MedStar Health as well as part-time infectious disease attending with Adventist healthcare at White Oak Medical Center, Silver Spring, MD.

Dr. Parviz is Board Certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases as well has had additional training in wound care, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and travel health.

Dr. Parviz graduated from Aga Khan Medical University Karachi and graduated in 1995.

He worked as a research officer at AKU in the Community Health Sciences department and published seminal studies on Rabies and HIV. In the US he completed Residency training in internal medicine at FUHS/Chicago Medical School and an infectious disease fellowship at Robert C Byrd Health Sciences Center of West Virginia, University.

• Awarded Best Research Award on Research done on drug addiction award on WHO International Drug Day in 1996.
• Represented Pakistan as a country representative at Institut Pasteur at the International Rabies Meeting in 1997.
• Awarded Hero Award as a medical director by Adfinitas Health.
• Received the distinction and excellence award from Healogics in 2013.
• Member of multiple medical organizations ACP, APPNA, AKU, IDSA, and GWIDS.
• Member of the DC ACP Book Club

For the last 6 years, he has been working as medical director of Post Acute Care LTC facilities in MD and is a key member of the DC ACP wellness committee in the past. For his services and dedication to ACP was elected last year in April 2022 for Fellowship in the American College of Physicians. During the pandemic, Dr. Parviz features as a panelist for UMMC for COVID-19 and also was a speaker on COVID-19 on Dr. Mobi Lifestyle Podcast Channel. His current interest is in a hand-face soap-water washing and saline nasal irrigation-gargling protocol that was published in the peer review journal Rhinology Online against COVID-19 and was presented at the APPNA MD Chapter meeting in 2021.

M. Haroon Burhanullah, MD – Immediate Past President (2021-2022)

Dr. Haroon Burhanullah is an Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University School of medicine. He is a memory and Alzheimer’s expert at Memory Clinic at Hopkins and also currently director of Consultation Liaison Service at Johns Hopkins Bayview. Dr. Burhanullah’ s Clinical interest is patients with neurodegenerative disease and memory disorders. His research interest is pre-clinical Alzheimer’s disease, clinical trials and delirium. He is author of several peer-reviewed articles published at various American Journals.

Dr Burhanullah graduated from Dow Medical College in 2004, did postdoctoral research fellowship in Neuroimaging from Johns Hopkins University Homewood campus and was awarded President Obama’s Stimulus award. He completed his residency in psychiatry from Bergen Regional Medical center, NJ and graduated as a Chief Resident. He received American Psychiatric association Resident’s Recognition award and was nominated President of Residents chapter at NJ psychiatric association. He completed fellowship in Geriatric Neuropsychiatry from Johns Hopkins University School of medicine. He is past and founding president of APPNA Maryland chapter.

M. Haroon Burhanullah, MD – Immediate Past President (2021-2022)

Dr. Haroon Burhanullah is an Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University School of medicine. Zeeshan Shah – Executive Director

From 2014-2019 he served as a member of the APPNA Communications Committee.

Farzana Ajmal, MD- Councilor Washington DC Suburbs

Dr. Farzana Ajmal is board certified in family medicine and geriatrics she see patients of all ages from 13 to 100.She has experience with Assisted living s nursing homes and home visits. Currently she own a private practice and medical director at her own ACO. Dr. Ajmal is mother of 4 children.

Dr. Farzana Ajmal is board certified in family medicine and geriatrics and is a 1986 King Edward Medical College graduate. She completed her post graduate studies in Master of Philosophy in Pathology from Quaid-Azam Post Graduate Institute.

She is the Medical Director/CEO of My Med Clinic, P.A.

She completed her Thesis on “Endometrial Morphology and Serum Estradiol Levels in Postmenopausal Women” for her Masters of Philosophy.

Tehseen Naqvi, MD- Councilor At Large

Dr. Tehseen Raza Naqvi is a graduate of RMC 1990 Batch, She is Board Certified in Family medicine and have Certificate of added qualification in Geriatric Medicine, She runs a private practice in Olney Maryland. She loves to read and travel in her spare time. She currently resides in Olney Maryland with her husband and son.

Hina Aamir, MD – Councilor Baltimore City and suburbs region of Maryland

I graduated from Dow Medical College in 2001. I have been working in Maryland as a board-certified Adult Psychiatrist.
I worked in the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health system and several other local outpatient adult psychiatric care facilities and now serve as a director and owner of Aspire Psychiatry Associates. I believe in a collaborative care model, treating patients as a whole person with biopsychosocial aspect integration.
I am honored to be part of APNNA Maryland chapter. I am committed to unite Pakistani physicians and their families both locally and worldwide through networking and collaboration with peers. I am a champion of promoting Pakistani physician’s role in the USA at the political and social level. My vision is to strengthen our resources and networking and recognize and actualize Pakistani physician’s potential in health care. We need to promote exceptional care in the USA and also help medical students back home through mentorship.

Asif Aziz, MD – Councilor Western Maryland

Dr. Aziz, a graduate of Allama Iqbal Medical College in Pakistan, completed his residency in family medicine at Baptist Health South Florida. He holds a Master of Public Health from Benedictine University, IL. His extensive experience includes serving as a research fellow in cardio-metabolic research, notably contributing to the Miami Heart Study. Dr. Aziz has authored several peer-reviewed manuscripts and showcased his work at national and international research presentations, earning recognition as the best researcher during his residency.

Presently, he serves as a hospitalist and Administrator on Call (AOC) at John Hopkins Howard County Medical Center, where he excels in managing complex cases in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Driven by a deep commitment to patient safety, quality care, and preventing medical errors, he strives to alleviate adverse patient outcomes and reduce financial strains on healthcare organizations. He is also a recipient of the Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center Employee Excellence Award 2023.
Beyond his medical pursuits, Dr. Aziz cherishes outdoor adventures and travels with his family. A passionate enthusiast of badminton, he happily spends hours on the court. In his leisure, he indulges in culinary endeavors, enjoys reading, and unwinds with movies.

Bisma Beg, M.D., MPH, PMP- Chair Membership Committee

Dr. Bisma Beg is a graduate of Allama Iqbal Medical College. She practiced as an OBGYN before transitioning her career trajectory to practice as a Public Health Consultant.

After securing her MD degree, she pursued her MPH degree with Women’s Health concentration at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University. Additionally, she has also earned a post-master’s Certificate in Maternal Child Health (MCH) from the Bloomberg SPH, JHU, Baltimore, Maryland. She is also trained as a Project Management Professional from PMI, USA.

She has developed/designed several very successful and prominent public health projects and initiatives (in Chronic Disease Prevention and Women’s Health) in collaboration with the Baltimore City and Maryland State Health Departments.
Due to her community services, advocacy and leadership, she is well recognized at the County and State of Maryland Government level and was honored to be appointed and commissioned by;

● The Maryland Governor and Executive team to serve on the Maryland Health and Higher Educational Facilities Authority for next term (5 years), till 2028.

● The Howard County Executive and County Council to serve on the Board of Health for next term (3 years), till 2026.

Dr. Bisma Beg has strategized a strong, personal social media presence and branding for herself and her mission to spread public health knowledge and awareness. She is frequently invited in US and internationally as a motivational speaker and a guest for women’s empowerment and other social causes.

Lubna Khan, M.D, Esq- Chair, Committee for Disaster and Social Welfare Projects

Dr. Lubna Khan is a graduate of the King Edwards Medical College. She practiced as a board-certified Gastroenterologist before transitioning her career trajectory to practice law as a Director at the U.S. Department of Justice. She currently holds a position as a senior advisor.

She volunteers by serving on the planning committee for the Senior Citizens of Montgomery County, where she is involved in the Planning and Launching of various programs for the senior citizens in Maryland. She also participates in the Howard County Advocacy Group Against Slavery.

She has published several papers included in the American College of Gastroenterology. Dr. Lubna Khan is also a member of the Phi Alfa Delta Law Fraternity.
